Current Project

The Nuclear Age: A Common Legacy
Sponsored by Global Gathering 2003. $20 plus shipping.

In the spring of 2002 twenty-five women activists from the USA and Russia met in Siberia at a conference sponsored by ISAR (Initiative for Social Action and Renewal). They gathered to form multinational partnerships to address radiation contamination in their communities and the world. All of them have witnessed the carelessness and cover-up rampant in the nuclear industry. Each is head of a non-profit organization founded to ensure nuclear safety. This 34 minute video, in English or Russian, contains first hand experiences from these women and expert testimony from scientists, lawyers, doctors and journalists. It is an excellent overview of the nuclear legacy designed to stimulate classroom discussions.

World Peace Through Compassion & Non-Violence - A public talk by The Dalai Lama in Santa Fe on April 4, 1991. $20 plus shipping.

"What is the meaning of non-violence? There are, I think, two levels. One level is simply resisting harming others. Then, the deeper meaning is not the mere absence of harming but something positive... serving, helping - that's non-violence."

Harmony in Diversity - A public talk by The Dalai Lama at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC on May 29, 1997. $20 plus shipping.

" The reality is, everything is interdependent, so harmony is the only way to survive and further develop. Mean-time the diversity - culturally or linguistically or religiously - that also is necessary. So, without loosing one's own individuality, we need to take more care about common interest. "

Global Gathering's History

In 1969, while still a child, I saw the destruction being caused by the Vietnam war. I began activism for peace, human rights and the environment. Since then I have had the fortune to travel to many parts of the world. Where ever I have gone there is beauty of nature and people who are working to ensure that this is a healthy planet for now and future generations. It is my abiding pleasure to share those encounters with you via video and film.

In 1991 I was invited to produce a live event for the Dalai Lama called WORLD PEACE THROUGH COMPASSION AND NON-VIOLENCE. With the use of direct broadcast satellite we were able to unite 3 million people nation-wide. Knowing that so many were simultaneously participating in this event was very moving. And, when we found that an outcome of our broadcast was the White House's request for an appointment with the Dalai Lama the potential for creating social change became obvious. I began "Global Gathering" satellite and internet broadcasts.

Global Gathering's Founder

Leslie Larsen & Friend

My passion is to unite people in curiousity, creating a context to explore our beliefs and the world around us.

Global Gathering's Method

GLOBAL GATHERING is a group of interdependent professionals building a network dedicated to empowering individuals with communication and resources.

For each satellite project we create an event that contains a brilliant tapestry of dance, music, poetry, storytelling, professional viewpoints and personal experience, presenting diverse beliefs and traditions, both ancient and contemporary, providing information not readily available through conventional media.

Each project is presented to a highly targeted audience. These audiences are developed through community organizations that work in topic related areas. The projects create a focal point for these organizations to invite their communities to participate, providing an opportunity for audience members to become more aware of the support services available to them locally and to feel a greater part of their community.

Global Gathering's Outreach

~ Each satellite event is designed for all members of the family and encourage participation, conversation and new understandings. Community coordinators are developed through the participating volunteer organizations in each targeted community.

~ Each community coordinator networks with local media and other volunteer organizations to effectively utilize resources and mobilize their community.

~ Press releases and articles are distributed to local and national television, radio and print announcing each event and initiating community involvement.

~ Each event is offered for live broadcast to all public and government access television stations reaching a potential audience of 45 million homes.

~ Each event is distributed for rebroadcast and video sales to cable stations, schools, libraries and video stories, expanding the audience.
